Allan Armstrong is a retired teacher, who was active as a convenor of Scottish Rank & File Teachers and the Scottish Socialist Teachers Federation. He was an EIS school rep, Local Executive and National Council member.

Allan was also the chair of the Lothian Anti-Poll Tax Federation. He has been involved in many campaigns, including the Radical Independence Campaign.

He is also the author of two books, From Davitt to Connolly and The Ghost of James Connolly and many articles. He organises radical walks in his home city of Edinburgh. His main written contributions are to the Emancipation & Liberation blog. He also contributes to bella caledonia. Allan is a communist, republican socialist, Scottish internationalist and freethinker.
